Evolution - Profiles

I use Evolution...a lot....like everyday....my problem is though, I use it for work (GroupWise and Unity) and for home (my 4 gmail accounts). When I bring my laptop back and forth, Evolution doesn't have a "nice way" of transitioning between the 2 environments. Meaning, it doesn't support "profiles" in the sense I can't click a button and disable the work profile and enable the home profile. Well, thanks to gconftool-2 you can get around this.

First, export the current "at work" profile like so:

gconftool-2 --dump /apps/evolution/mail >evo-work.xml

Second, do the same thing for your "at home" profile. Disable whatever accounts you don't want, change the Default account....do whatever settings you want for your "at home" profile and then run this:

gconftool-2 --dump /apps/evolution/mail >evo-home.xml

Finally, just create two different launcher/scripts that look similar to this:
~/bin/evolution-work.sh

#!/bin/sh

evolution --force-shutdown
gconftool-2 --load=~/backups/gnome/evo-work.xml
evolution &

...and then obviously do the same for the "at home" profile.
~/bin/evolution-home.sh

#!/bin/sh

evolution --force-shutdown
gconftool-2 --load=~/backups/gnome/evo-home.xml
evolution &

Point your 2 Evolution launchers at those scripts, and there ya go! 8)
